Oh, so close, yet so far.
So. Updates.
None of the three women on the racetrack finished.
Milka Duno spun out, Sarah Fisher crashed into Tony Kanaan when Marco Andretti drove under him, leaving Kanaan no where to go.
Danica Patrick was pushed coming out of the pits, by Ryan Briscoe. And she was not happy about it, a fact that was made clear when she started making her way to Briscoe's pit crew after not being able to restart. She did not make it there, as she was pulled away before her destination.
Danica rocks.
So, yet again it was not a year for the women.
It was also not a year for Andretti Green Racing, as mentioned above, two of the team's four drivers in the 500 did not finish. Those two being Danica Patrick and Tony Kanaan.
The other two racers for Andretti Green however, didn't do all too badly. Hideki Mutoh finished and Marco Andretti placed.
Again, so close, yet so far.
An Andretti hasn't won the Indianapolis 500 since 1969, when Marco's grandfather, Mario Andretti won the race. Father Michael never won, but holds the record for altogether most laps led.
One third of the 33 were first-time Indy racers. That's eleven people who'd never done the 500 before.
And quite a few racers didn't finish. Besides the three women and Kanaan, a few others that didn't make it to the end: A.J. Foyt IV, Grahm Rahal, Justin Wilson, and Marty Roth, this year's oldest racer on the track.
The winner's circle was made up of three racers.
In 3rd, was the Indiana Jones car of Marco Andretti
2nd was Vitor Meira
And in 1st was Scott Dixon.
So, yes, it could have been better, but it wasn't all too bad.
