Dance club beats or tug-on-your-heart lyrics?

Three Days Grace, Muse, Quietdrive, Flyleaf, Simple Plan and so many others.
Or, on the other, slightly less meaningful side, there's the type of music like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. [Please don't eat me, Manda.]
Which would you rather listen to?
I know many of you will say the latter group, but personally? I'd much rather play songs that bring back memories [good or bad]. I need something I can relate to, and not just catchy guitar solos [awesome as they may be] or techno beats. Give me bands like Flyleaf, The Smashing Pumpkins and Guns 'N Roses where the lead singers have distinct voices, but also triggering lyrics. Like, for instance, Flyleaf's Cassie, written about the Columbine School shootings.
Would you really rather listen to something like that, feeling, meaning and a great beat, or would you like to spend your time listening to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears-like songs, such as My Love and Gimme More?
Something to think about.

Never ever ever said I didn't like the meaningful crap. Some of my favorite (most of my favorite) bands and artists are the ones with touching melodies. Unlike youuuuu, though, I have a very wide range :P. JT rocks.

Then there are those bands that combine the great beats and hearty lyrics, like Relient K -- they rock, as well ^_^.

Ooh stuff it, Manda. XD
I never said no one had beats and lyrics. [Though Timberlake sucks. :D]
My taste in music is strongly varied, I just don't like most of the stuff you like.
Try listening to LIVE.
