Who's heard about Heath Ledger? Terrible really, he was good. Only 28. Shame.
For all of you people out there who have undoubtedly been hiding under a rock on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, it's still early and quite possible you haven't heard of this yet.
I'm assuming though, that you have, in fact, at least heard of Heath Ledger? Australian actor, 28 years old, was in Brokeback Mountain with Jake Gyllenhaal, and then also in Casanova? Plus a number of other movies, but I don't feel like going to another site to find everything he was in.
Either way, yesterday [January 22, 2008] he was found dead in his home. Evidently, he had an appointment for a message, and when the lady arrived, she found him in his bed. They tried to revive him, but he was already gone. They were saying on the news last night that there were pills in the room, and it looked like a possible drug over-dose. I heard on the radio this morning, [er, afternoon I guess. Got up too late. Again.] that it was not an overdose. He had a history of substance abuse, but he's supposedly been clean for a year. What I heard on the radio said he did have sleeping pills or whatever. So, they're going to do an autopsy. This should be interesting.
I almost spit my soup out when my dad told us last night. He was watching something on CNN and that was running on the ticker at the bottom of the screen. Needless to say, we were all surprised. That I can honestly say I wasn't expecting. Someone else, yeah, maybe, but not him. Never would have guessed.
Figures though. I was looking through the paper just yesterday, and somehow came across the obituaries. I was just feeling slightly sorry about the people who died so early in their lives. I find it slightly ironic that the day I look at that is the day another one's gone.
They say life goes on.
Not for everyone.
