Watch the interview.
Just take 8 minutes out of your precious day and watch it.
Then go and judge him the same you did before.
I dare you.
Plus I promise, he isn't entirely scary here. Yes there's a clip or two of some videos, but they last a whole of a few seconds, so I promise you won't have nightmares tonight.
Do it for Meg so she can feel like she at least tried?

Before, I could at least tolerate Marilyn Manson. But now I see he's just an irresponsible ... jerk, to put it lightly. I can put up with the make-up and the whole rest of his wannabe get-up, even some of the music. But what I heard from that interview is that he REFUSES to take responsibility for the horrible influence he is on kids, and yes, he IS a horrible influence. He tries to make it out like he's being some sort of positive influence on kids by "making them question" and you cannot possibly be so dense as to not see that all he's doing is promoting satanism. Which, I don't care if you believe in God or not, but even you must admit that that's a crappy thing to promote to any kid.
Stop listening to what he's saying - words mean nothing. Take a really take a good look at him, his lyrics and especially his videos. Are you really going to tell me that you think all that is a positive influence on anyone? I understand Marilyn Manson goes with the whole "shock rocker" thing you've got going, and I'm completely for questioning things. Despite what you seem to think, I do have an open mind. But please be honest. You really think he hasn't negatively influenced tons of kids? Even HE knows he has, but he's doing what every other retarded celebrity does and passing the buck to the parents. You know what? Not everyone has their parents in their life as a strong influence, and he has a responsibility not to pull this satanic crap.
Your opinion. ^-^
Now WHILE I agree in a sense that it's a bad influence - it's only a bad influence if you've got the mentality of a flea. If you've got a stich of maturity and brains, you don't take everything seriously. Or you think a little more about it.
...And I just realized that could be taken the wrong way, so please don't think I'm pointing that towards you personally. xD
I don't believe in God, but I don't think Santanism is particularly nice either. If I'd believe in anything, it'd be closer to your side of things. I have no desire to learn any more about sacrificing or whatever the hell it is those crazies do. I think religion is a personal choice, and people shouldn't be judged by what they practice. If you're hurting people or animals because of it, something has to be done, but if you aren't, it's your business.
As far as the parents...Ah, say what you like. My personal opinion is that 98% of the time, it's the parents' fault the kids are screwed up. Long before he said that, mind you. If the kids that listen to him don't have their parents working on their side, then that's a shame, but it's not his fault. He doesn't have a responsibility to be an angel to everyone who doesn't have a clue. He's an artist - Salvador Dali ring a bell? He was just as wacked out if not more, and no one said anything about him. Just because he didn't have such an impact on people, just because no one payed such close attention to him, he wasn't an issue. If you people would relax on Manson, he might not be such a problem for you.
He's getting what he wants because you're complaining about him. The more people that make a show of his 'bad influence' the bigger he gets.
And one more thing.
Have you met me?
Words mean a hell of a lot.
It's not so much that these kids have the mentality of a flea, but that they were never taught differently.
And I totally agree that it's usually the parent's fault, but he doesn't have to PROMOTE that crap. Don't go out of your way to be a saint - they aren't HIS kids, after all, but honestly. It's not the kids' fault if they have no positive influence in their life. Why make it worse? It seems incredibly irresponsible to me. Which I could overlook if he wasn't trying to justify it. I mean, you know I like artists like Eminem and Justin Timberlake who are not exactly good role models, but at least they don't use retarded excuses to justify it. They'll come out and SAY they aren't role models, especially Timberlake.
Exaaactly, which is why I don't wig out about him unless provoked. ^^
-sigh- OK, maybe to you. But people can say whatever they want, it doesn't make it true.
Point taken. I just think it's his decision. People don't have to make a big deal over him just because he's doing what he wants. Maybe they should try harder to teach kids right from wrong and regardless of their parental issues, they might be better off. Instead, everyone spends their time trying to tell us what's 'wrong' with other people. They're going about it badly; they aren't going to change him, so there's no sense trying. On the other hand, they might be able to help kids who DON'T have positive influences.
But nobody bothers with that.
Eh, true. But these entertainers - not just Manson - have the perfect opportunity to be either a positive or negative influence, and Manson chooses to be a negative, which I do indeed judge him for.
Right. But my take on it is that it's really only negative if you let it be. You could do what he says [whether he's shoving the responsibility off or not is not my point] and look at it from a more positive side, or you could wallow in what you think you're hearing. Regardless of how he meant it, you can take it however you want.
Yeah, but most kids ARE going to take it at face value, which gets us back around to the parents.
We need a talk show. XD
Yes, they are. But I don't think he should be blamed for that. It's not HIS fault kids don't understand boundaries and right from wrong, is it? No.
A talk website might be more possible, but I agree. xD
